Our Snowy Breckenridge Wedding

I’m Emily.

A British-American blogger, podcaster, and mama of four who dislikes labels (yes, I see the irony), and lives for deep conversations, an organized closet, and questioning the status quo.

Next month will mark our 8 year anniversary and 13 years together. Our snowy Breckenridge, Colorado wedding week seems hundreds of miles away and yet I can still close my eyes and see the memories in the rear view mirror. I can see all of our family and friends who traveled to Colorado in the middle of winter to be with us on our wedding day. I can hear the laughter (some tears too!) during our vows. I’m smiling thinking of the fun wigs people wore to the welcome brunch (scroll down for pictures). It was an incredible week.

We had 5 days of events, because 1 day goes by way to fast. We wanted to sit in this moment for as long as we could.

Oh and I shared my vows in another post, which you can read here.

I planned every detail of our wedding myself and looking back I feel really proud of that. I painstakingly picked out every decor item, the food, the outfits, the vendors, the location, the wedding invitations, accommodations, and so much more. After all that hard work it was incredible seeing all these tiny little details come to life. We knew we wanted our wedding to be unique to us and I think that set the tone as we moved in to the next chapter of our lives. Our photographer, Sarah Roshan, was everything you could ask for in a wedding photographer, and she captured our day perfectly.

20 weeks pregnant on our wedding day and it wasn’t an accident (gasp!). Fast forward and our son Logan loves hearing the story of him being at our wedding.

The little baby deer (fawn? calf?) is so darling. When I said I chose every last detail I meant it. Going down memory lane is a good reminder of how far we’ve come since saying “I do.” We’ve been through our share of it, but we’ve always managed to come out the other side stronger. Every day we make a choice to be together, to parent together, to love each other. Thank you Darren for loving me and supporting all of my seemingly wild dreams. I love you.

Now as promised some pictures from our welcome wig brunch:

And you probably don’t either.

Hi! I’m Emily Collins.

the working mom

When I’m not wrangling my kids through passport control or devouring a fresh stack of books, I’m world schooling our little explorers, using my financial background and degrees to manage our family’s investments “behind-the-scenes”, writing blog posts and hosting the Unlearning Happy podcast.

So, yeah…I don’t fit neatly inside the box.
