Step Into Your CEO Energy—Without the Overwhelm, Guilt, or Doing It All

I’m Emily.

A British-American blogger, podcaster, and mama of four who dislikes labels (yes, I see the irony), and lives for deep conversations, an organized closet, and questioning the status quo.

Do you ever feel like you’re working constantly, but not actually moving forward? Like you’re stuck spinning your wheels instead of leading your life and business like the CEO you truly are?

If that sounds familiar, I’ve been there too. And what I want to share with you today might just change how you lead, how you show up, and how you feel in your business—without burnout, without guilt, and without trying to “do it all.”

From Playing Small to CEO Energy

A couple of years ago, I had one of those conversations that shifts something deep inside you. It was after a year that completely turned my family’s world upside down, and a friend reminded me of something so simple but so powerful:

our stories matter

She told me that sharing mine—our slightly unconventional way of doing life—could inspire someone. And she was right. By then, Darren and I had already taken some bold leaps: world schooling our kids, choosing for them to have my last name instead of his, diving into entrepreneurship, and questioning what life was “supposed” to look like.

If I could inspire even one person to live more boldly, it would be worth it. So, I decided to create a space online where I could share these conversations—somewhere we could talk about breaking rules, rewriting stories, and building a life on your own terms. I poured myself into it, designed every page, tweaked every word… and then did absolutely nothing with it. No launch, not even a quiet one. Just me and a perfectly finished project sitting in the background.

For 18 months, I hid behind excuses: I didn’t have time. I wasn’t ready. I needed to learn more first. But if I’m honest, I was hanging out with my three least-favorite companions: imposter syndrome, fear of judgment, and procrastination.

During that season, I poured myself into personal development. Books, podcasts, journaling—you name it. At the time, it didn’t feel like I was building anything. It felt like survival. But looking back, I can see those moments stacking. That mindset work was changing me quietly, day by day, until I started trusting my intuition in small, everyday ways.

Then, around my youngest’s first birthday, I decided I was done playing small. I realized I was never going to “find” the time—I had to create it. No one was going to hand me extra hours in the school pick-up line. So I finally shared my work with the world.

But here’s the twist: that project wasn’t the dream. It was the warm-up. I’d been calling it a “passion project” because that felt safe—if it failed, it wouldn’t really matter. But deep down, I wanted more. I didn’t want to dabble. I wanted to lead.

That decision was the domino that tipped everything else.

I met Natalie, who introduced me to the Quantum Coaching Academy—a six-month mindset coaching certification that I have now completed. It stretched me in the best ways and helped me get crystal clear on my voice, my values, and my purpose.

Fast forward to today, and things look very different. I’m coaching clients, hosting masterminds for women entrepreneurs with Natalie, and speaking on my very own podcast. People sometimes think it’s all happened overnight—but really, it’s been years of small, aligned decisions adding up.

And that’s the thing about CEO energy—it’s not waiting for the perfect time, plan, or permission. It’s alignment over approval. It’s showing up before you feel ready and letting each choice bring you closer to the life and business you’re meant for.

What “CEO Energy” Really Means

Let’s clear this up: CEO energy isn’t just a trendy phrase, and it’s not about having it all figured out.

It’s about how you lead—not only in business, but in your whole life. It’s how you decide what matters most, protect your energy, stay focused on what moves the needle, and show up fully for the people counting on you.

It’s not perfection. It’s not hustle. It’s ownership.

And it changes everything—how you move through your day, parent your kids, run your home, and show up in relationships. Instead of living in constant reaction mode, you start leading yourself with clarity and intention.

Here’s the truth: you don’t grow by doing more. You grow by doing what actually matters.

3 Shifts to Step Into Your CEO Energy

If you’re wondering where to start, here are three shifts you can make right now—yes, even in the middle of a messy, busy life.

1. From “I Have to Do It All” → To “I Lead & Delegate”

CEOs don’t micromanage—they lead. They know what’s truly theirs to hold and what’s meant to be passed on. You don’t need to carry everything—just the right things. Try this: What’s one thing you can delegate, simplify, or drop this week?

2. From “I Work Harder” → To “I Work Smarter”

CEO energy is about impact, not hours. When you’re reacting to everything, it all feels urgent. When you’re intentional, you focus on what actually moves the needle. Try this: Look at your to-do list. What’s truly creating progress—and what’s just keeping you busy? (Spoiler: re-color-coding your calendar probably isn’t it.)

3. From “I’ll Take Care of Myself Later” → To “My Energy Is My Superpower”

You are your business’s most important asset. If you’re running on empty, everything else suffers. Try this: Choose one thing you can do today—big or small—to protect your energy.

Stepping into your CEO energy isn’t about doing more. It’s about leading with intention, trusting yourself, and taking one aligned step at a time. That’s how you create a life and business that feel good—and actually work for you.
